How to Replace Nail Gun O-rings

Save

The O-ring in your electric nail gun is an internal component that fits around the trigger valve. If your nail gun isn't firing properly it could be the result of a loose or damaged O-ring. The good news is that you can take apart your nail gun in order to replace the O-ring.

Things You'll Need

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Dental pick
  • Turn off your nail gun, remove the external battery pack as well as any nails that may be left in the gun.

  • Use your screwdriver to remove the four screws on the back panel of the nail gun. Set the screws aside.

  • Remove the back panel to expose the metal fan assembly inside.

  • Remove the screws from the fuel door underneath the fan assembly and remove the fuel door.

  • Pull the fan assembly out of the gun but be sure not to bend the blades on the internal sides of the gun.

  • Locate the rubber O-ring around the fan and use a dental pick to pull off the O-ring.

  • Fit a new O-ring around the fan and replace the fan assembly in the gun. Replace the fuel door as well as the back panel of the nail gun.
