How to Create Free Practice Tests

Free practice tests are easily created online.

Creating free online tests has never been easier and can be as simple as registering for a free account online and plugging in some test questions. Once registered, user-friendly tools make the creation of multiple-choice, matching, true/false and other practice tests easy to set up and execute while honing important learning skills for upcoming tests.

Instructions

1. Register for a free Google account or Class Marker account (see References).

2. Sign into your Google account and click on "More" and "Documents" to get into Google Document, which will house the initial form you'll use to create the quiz. If you are using Class Marker, sign into your Class Marker account and click on "My Tests" and "Create a New Test." Each will open up a page with boxes in which testing information can be placed.

3. Select a test type by clicking on "Add Item" in Google Documents. Use the drop-down menu in Class Marker. Both sites offer a selection of multiple-choice, matching, true/false, short response and essay response. Class Marker also offers a punctuation choice.

4. Fill in the question-and-answer choices as prompted. Be sure to indicate which answer is correct by checking the box next to it, leaving those that are incorrect unchecked.

5. Click "Assign Test" in Class Marker to send the test to a group. If a group must be created, click "Create group" and enter group information. In Google Documents, copy-and-paste the web link that appears at the bottom of the test form. Send the link via email to all members taking the test.

Tips & Warnings

• If you are preparing for a specific test type, such as a GED test or state teaching exam, use the sample questions from the official testing site to develop the practice test.
