A little yarn and a kntting spool can create many wonders.

Using a spool knitter, mushroom knitter, knitting Nancy or whatever else these spools with small brads nailed into the top might be called can be an easy craft to learn with a little patience. The cord that the spool creates can be joined together to make toys, clothing or endless other object.

Instructions

      Feed the wool through the hole of the knitting spool, from top to bottom. The top is the part with the brads in it. Cast-on by wrapping the wool around each brad in a counter-clockwise direction. Do not pull the wool too tight.

      Begin knitting the first row by winding the wool, in a counter-wise direction, around each brad.

      Use the finger and the thumb to lift the bottom strand of wool over the top and toward the center of the spool. Continue this around the spool.

      Continue winding the wool around the brads and lifting the bottom strand over the top one until the created cord is the desired length. Cut the wool with a long tail.

      Bind off all the stitches by threading the wool through each stitch that remains on the spool.

Tips & Warnings

  • A small stick or steel crochet hook could be used to lift the yarn when knitting.
