How to Align Pictures Next to Text

Incorporating images within text on your web page is not too difficult. Once you have added an image to your page, the next challenge for a novice is getting text on the page to wrap around the picture. The "ALIGN" command makes it easy to do. With these simple steps, you will accomplish this task quickly.

Things You'll Need

  • Access to text editor - Notepad (for Windows) or BBEdit (for Mac)
  • Web page
  • Image
  • Open your .html file.

  • Type in the folowing code: <IMG SRC="YourImageName" ALIGN="left"> if you want your text to wrap to the right of your image. Conversely, type <IMG SRC="YourImageName" ALIGN="right"> if you want your text to wrap to the left of your image.

  • Go to the "File" menu and click on "Save."

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want breaks, spaces and double spaces at particular points in the text, the codes are as follows:
  • * <BR> for a line break
  • * <P> for a double space
  • *   to add a space
