3
Use a basting stitch to connect the ribbon ends.

4
Repeat Steps 1 and 2 with the second piece of ribbon.

6
Sew a few basting stitches in the middle of the X to hold both ribbon pieces together.
-
7
Cut a 16-inch length of wide-width ribbon and tie a bow in it. Adjust the loops and tails of the bow until you are satisfied with the lengths of both.
-
8
Apply tacky glue to the ends of the ribbon or cut off a small portion with pinking shears on both tails of the bow to prevent the ribbon from fraying. Allow the glue to dry completely
-
9
Lay the new bow on top of the X made with the other two bow parts, centered in the middle horizontally.
-
10
Use a few more basting stitches to the secure all three parts of the bow together in the middle. Sew the stitches from behind so they cannot be seen from the front of the bow.
-
11
Use hot glue to attach the bow to a plain barrette or plain plastic headband. Once the glue is dry, use your fingers to fluff out the loops on the bow.

Tips & Warnings
Use a sturdier fabric ribbon or a a wire-edged ribbon to make a fuller bow.
Create a basting stitch by threading the needle, making a large knot at the end of the thread, and then pushing the needle through the ribbon away from you and pulling the thread through until the knot stops it. Turn the needle and push it back through about 1/4 inch from the first stitch.
You can also use a scarf to create a bow for your hair. Fold the square scarf into a triangle and then roll it loosely from the wide edge to the pointed corner. Wrap the scarf around your head and tie it in a bow on top, making it as tight as is comfortable. Fluff the bow with your fingers.
