How to Install an SLP Air Intake
The SLP air induction system is an aftermarket intake designed for GM V8 engines. It is most commonly installed on the LS1 and LS2 motors found in the Corvette and Camaro. The intake uses a larger filter and more streamlined tubing to improve airflow and increase both power and economy. You can bolt the system into your car using existing screw holes, making this a relatively quick job.

1
Turn off the ignition, and allow the vehicle to cool for five hours before beginning work.
-
2
Dismantle the existing air intake system. Unscrew the clamp from the worm tube and remove the existing intake hose and filter. This step may vary slightly depending on your vehicle model.
-
-
3
Install the mounting plate included in the SLP intake kit. Mount it directly above the radiator using the supplied binding barrels and screws. Insert the screws through the barrels and into the holes on either side of the metal plate on top of the radiator.
-
4
Install the included rubber grommets on the SLP kit's filter by pressing them into the screw holes. Install the filter onto the mounting plate using the supplied screws.
-
5
Slide the SLP intake duct into the filter, and tighten the hose clamp using a screwdriver. Insert the other side of the duct into the stock worm drive tube. Unlike many cold-air intakes, it is not necessary to tamper with the MAF sensor or vacuum lines for an SLP installation.
