How to Hook Up a DVD Player to Direct TV

Your Direct TV receiver is equipped with audio and video ports for your television and auxiliary connections. Use these additional auxiliary connections to hook up a surround system, VCR, gaming consoles, a DVD player or other compatible equipment. According to Direct TV, your receiver may not come with the proper cables you need to hook up certain devices. Use the red, white and yellow RCA cable that came with your DVD player to connect the player to the DTV unit.

Instructions

1. Unplug your TV and Direct TV receiver from their power outlets.

2. Insert the red and white audio plugs of the RCA cable into the red and white audio jacks on your DVD player.

3. Insert the yellow video plug into the yellow audio jack of the DVD player.

4. Plug the other end of the RCA cable into the red, white and yellow jacks on the back panel of the Direct TV receiver. Plug each connector into the color-matching jack.

5. Reconnect the TV and receiver to their power sources. Plug the power cable of the DVD player into a wall outlet.
