How to Write a Grant for a Youth Sports Team
There are a lot of benefits to youth sports, but not every player can afford the cost. Uniforms, equipment and even facility rentals add up. But there are many government agencies and private companies which are willing to fund youth sports teams. Research government sources for funding. Look at major sports teams in your area; they may offer grants, funding or equipment. Talk with local companies. Any local business may be part of a larger company that offers grants. The local company may even offer help in writing the grant or securing the funds.

Research the grant. Make sure that your team fits the requirements of the grant. Every grant has different parameters. Some are designed for urban areas, others for a specific sport, ethnic or age group.

Write clearly and precisely. Describe the need and how the grant will meet that need. Include supporting data on the benefits of your sport. Add specific, individual stories to humanize your request but stay objective. Use good grammar and correct spelling. Always spell check.
