How to Remove Ceiling Light Globes
For some reason, insects often find a way to get inside ceiling light globes. When they can't find a way out, they die and create an obvious eyesore. When a ceiling light globe needs cleaning or the light bulb needs to be replaced, the globe removal process will take about a minute. Light globes have a flange that fits inside a fixture on the ceiling and then three or more screws hold the globe to the fixture. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- A-frame ladder
- Flathead or crosshead screwdriver (depends on screw fasteners)
- Pliers (optional)

Set an A-frame ladder up under the ceiling light globe.

Turn the light off.

Climb the ladder and inspect the screws that hold the globe to the fixture. Some screws have to be removed with a flathead or crosshead screwdriver, while others can be undone with fingers or a pair of pliers.

Loosen the screws with the appropriate tool. Hold the bottom of the globe with your left hand. This ensures the globe doesn't crash unexpectedly to the floor while you're loosening the screws. The screws don't have to be completely removed for the globe to come free. Continue loosening the screws until the flange of the globe comes clear of the screw tips.
