After years of service, a Kenmore washing machine may require some repair. Most of the repairs that are affected on a Kenmore washing machine require that the front panel be removed. It is only by removing the front panel that access is gained to many of the parts. Removing the front panel involves disengaging the console and releasing the top. The job requires few tools, and is completed in about 20 minutes. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Phillips-head screwdriver
  • Flat-head screwdriver
  • Putty knife

Instructions

    • 1

      Unplug the washing machine's electrical cord from the wall outlet.

      Unscrew the screws on each side of the console that secure it using a Phillips-head screwdriver. On some newer models the console is secured with clips that are released by inserting a putty knife on each side of the front of the console.

      Pull the console forward and up to release it from the tabs underneath. Lay the console back against the wall behind the washer.

      Unplug the wire harness for the lid switch.

      Remove the clips on each side of the back of the top by prying them up with a flat-head screwdriver. Pull out the clips in the slots in the back panel.

      Open the lid and pull the cabinet forward. Pull the cabinet with one hand on the lid and the other on the front edge of the lid opening. Slide the cabinet off the main washer body and set it aside.
