A standard deck of playing cards contains 52 playing cards. The deck consists of four suits of cards, each of which contain 13 cards. A deck of 52 playing cards allows you to play numerous types of card games and is perfect for any party. You might have people over one night though and realize that you don't have a deck of 52 playing cards. No need to worry, though, because with a few rudimentary craft supplies, you can make a deck of 52 playing cards yourself.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure a 3 1/2-by 2 1/2 inch sheet of cardstock paper with a ruler and cut it out with the scissors. Round the four corners of the card with the scissors if you want your playing cards to have rounded edges.

    • 2

Trace more cards. Use the playing card that you just cut out as a template to cut out 51 more playing cards.

    • 3

Design the cards with markers. Make sure to include the numbers 1 through 10, and a jack, queen and king in each set. The sets are clubs, diamonds, hearts and spades. Use a black marker to draw the clubs and spades cards and a red marker to draw the diamonds and heart cards.

Tips & Warnings

  • Laminate your playing cards to make them last longer.

  • Do not confuse clubs and spades, a common mistake. Clubs look like three leaf clovers and spades look like a single flat leaf.
