Write the introduction. An introduction to a proposal is a clear summary of the purpose of the proposal. This summary should clearly explain the request of the writer by summarizing the problem and the answer.
Explain the problem or issue. After the introduction, a statement of need is written. This statement plainly describes what the issue or problem is.
Describe the project solution. The next part of a proposal explains to the reader what the proposed answer is to the problem. It describes the answer, objectives and planning strategies. It also describes to the reader the benefits that will arise if the project occurs. This part of the proposal should clearly explain the answer to the reader so that the reader completely understands the content.
Outline budget details. If this proposal is written to obtain a grant to cover a project, the organization offering the grant wants to know that if the grant is given, the money will be spent wisely. If this proposal is for a job promotion, the company wants to know exactly how much this proposal will cost if approved. The budget details also prove to the reader that the writer thoroughly researched all costs associated with the proposed activity or project.
Conclude the proposal. The conclusion should highlight any important points the writer wants to reemphasize. It also contains a deadline date, if applicable, and is signed by the person or organization writing it.
