How to Use SHOUTcast

SHOUTcast generates revenue through advertising dollars.

SHOUTcast is an online radio station directory. The website hosts thousands of online radio stations of varying genres. SHOUTcast offers alternative, pop, Latin, hip-hop, country and electronic radio stations among many other styles. Users can listen to any radio station they want without a fee. You can listen to music on SHOUTcast by selecting a radio station from the directory list and clicking the play button.

Instructions

Playing a SHOUTcast Radio Station

1. Visit the the SHOUTcast radio website. Click the link in the Resources section of this tutorial that redirects to the SHOUtcast website.

2. Select a genre of music you want to hear. Browse through the "Radio Genres" on left side of the home page. Click one of the genres, then click on a sub-genre link.

3. Select a radio station to play within the sub-genre. Click the "Play" icon next to the radio station you want to hear.

Create SHOUTcast Account

1. Click the "Sign in/Register" button in upper right corner of the homepage. Click the "Register Now!" button in the new window.

2. Create a user name and password for your SHOUTcast account. Type a user name and password into the designated fields on the sign-up page. Fill out the remaining information on the form. Click the "Submit" button.

3. Confirm your account's email address with SHOUTcast. Log-in to the email address you provided on the sign-up page. Open the email sent by SHOUTcast in your inbox. Click the link provided in the email. Your account will be fully activated by the website.
