Body wraps are helpful in creating a more svelte look for a wedding, honeymoon, class reunion or other special event. With the help of an absorbing substance, such as sea clay, body wraps make the body sweat out toxins and water weight, resulting in a slimmer appearance, if temporarily. The wrap itself is usually made out of linen sheets, though bandages and even plastic are used in wrap treatments. While many spas offer body wrap treatments they are fairly easy to perform at home.

- Strips of linen sheets or ACE bandages
- Sea clay
- Stainless steel pot
Begin an exercise regimen, such as performing cardio workouts like running, jogging, swimming, in-line skating and biking, for 30 minutes four or five times a week. Replace fatty meats, sugary foods and drinks and processed foods with whole grains, fruits, water and vegetables. Try salmon as a healthy, low-fat alternative to beef and pork. Regular exercise and a healthier diet will complement body wraps as opposed to using only body wraps to lose weight.
Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your body wrap treatment, which will hydrate the body and encourage the flushing out of toxins.
Before applying the wrap, take a warm shower, which will open up the pores for toxin release.
Heat a half-gallon of water in a stainless steel pot until warm. To the water, add sea clay, which works as a good absorbent for pulling out toxins and water weight. Mix well and allow the mixture to cool to the touch. Seaweed, aloe vera or assorted herbal and mineral substances also work as alternatives to sea clay.
Dip the linen strips or ACE bandages in the mixture one by one and wrap your body from the ankles up. Use a warm room for this procedure and stay in the wrap for about one hour. Take a cool or warm bath following the wrap and take a hot bath on the second or third day following the treatment to release accumulated toxins from your pores.
Measure yourself after your body wrap. Use a wrap every five or so days for about a month and remember to measure yourself each time to track your progress.
