The Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) is an investment and retirement plan available to federal employees, the Ready Reserve and military personnel. The TSP is a contribution plan, which means that the amount of funds available in the account depends highly on the amount of money the employee or employer contributes. Once enrolled in the plan, you will receive a 13-digit account number. You can find your TSP account number on your monthly statement, the TSP website or by requesting the number be sent by mail.

Retrieve your monthly TSP statement. Locate the account number field on the front page of the statement. Your TSP number is in this field.

Visit the TSP website and click the link “Login.” Enter your username and password in the appropriate fields. Click “Login.” Navigate to the “My Account” tab. Click “Account Summary.” Locate your 13-digit TSP number on this page.

Visit the TSP website and click the link “Login.” Click the link “Forgot username or password.” Enter your Social Security number into the appropriate field and click “Submit.” TSP.gov will send an email to the email address you have on file with your username, 13-digit TSP account number and a link for you to change your password if you like. Access your email account to retrieve this information.

Call the TSP hotline at 877-968-3778. Follow the prompts to speak with a representative. Ask the representative to provide you with your 13-digit account number. In most cases, she will not provide you with information over the phone. Verify your TSP account and wait for the representative to submit your request. Your TSP account number should arrive by mail in a couple of weeks.
