How to Disable the Traction Control Sequence on an Impala

It is possible to disable this feature for the driving cycle, although it is automatically reenabled each time you crank the Impala's engine. Chevrolet does not recommend disabling the traction control sequence unless you have a specific need for the tires to spin. For example, if your Impala is stuck, disabling the traction control sequence will allow the wheels to spin, possibly helping you become free.
Step 1
Sit in the Impala's driver side seat. Crank the engine. Inspect the left side of the dash.
Step 2
Locate the button to disable the traction control. It is between the headlight control switch and the steering wheel. On some models, you'll see an icon of a vehicle skidding. On others, you'll see "TC."
Step 3
Push the button to disable the traction control sequence. "Traction Off" will display above the odometer. If you want to reenable the feature, push the button again. "Traction On" will then display above the odometer.
