How to Change Hair From Female to Male in "The Sims 3"

Save

The Sims 3 allows you to create very detailed characters. You can control everything from their age and facial appearance to their weight and personality. Unlike many games, the Sims 3 requires players to assign a gender to each character. Thus, the gender of a "sim" is not distinguished merely by their hair or clothing, but by a conscious choice on the part of the creator. To give your sim a traditionally male hairstyle, you must first assign a masculine gender. You cannot choose a hairstyle meant for a female and place it on a male.

  • Open The Sims 3 and choose the neighborhood that you want to play in by clicking on it.

  • Look at the bottom of the screen and you will see a button giving you the option to create sims. Click on it. You will be taken to a new screen where you will see a character standing in front of a mirror.

  • Look at the left hand side of the screen. You will see a series of buttons, each of which will allow you to customize your sim.

  • Click on the first button with a gender symbol on it. A menu will appear and give you options about the sim's gender, height, skin color and weight. Under gender, make sure you click the male symbol.

  • Look back at the buttons on the left hand side of the screen. Click the second button, which displays a hair brush. A screen will pop up showing you a number of male hairstyles to choose from. If the hairstyles appear feminine, double check to make sure that you clicked on the right gender.

  • Click on the hairstyle that you would like to use.

  • Complete your sim by modifying their face, clothing and personality until you are satisfied.

  • Click the checkmark button at the bottom of the screen to save your sim and begin gameplay.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you would like to create a family, click on the button with a silhouetted face at the bottom of the screen to add additional sims. Click the checkmark button after you have added all the desired sims.
