How to MIDI a Kurzweil in Samplitude

Samplitude not only offers you 64 virtual audio tracks for sequencing and recording software instruments, it also gives you the ability to sync your Kurzweil synthesizer to its internal sequencer. All you need to do is make the proper MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) settings within the software and connect the synth to your USB MIDI interface. Once you make the right configuration, you will have your Kurzweil keyboard's timimg fully integrated into your digital audio work station.

      Make the connection between your computer and the keyboard. Plug the USB MIDI interface's USB cable into a USB port on your computer, then plug one end of the MIDI cable into your Kurzweil keyboard's "MIDI In" port, and the other end into your MIDI interface's "MIDI In" port. Plug the other MIDI cable into your Keyboard's "MIDI Out" jack, and the other end into the MIDI interface's "MIDI In" jack.

      Open Samplitude by going to "Start," "All Programs," and selecting the program from the list that appears on the left side of your computer screen. If you made a desktop shortcut at the time of installation, double-click on the desktop icon to open the application.

      Click on the "Settings" tab at the top of the user graphic interface, then select "MIDI" under "System Options." The screen that appears will allow you to make changes to how the software will relate with your USB MIDI interface.

      Select the name of your particular USB MIDI interface under the "MIDI In" and "MIDI Out" boxes on the MIDI settings screen. When you start the Samplitude sequencer, the Kurzweil keyboard will now be synced through the MIDI connection.
