How to Make an Adult Strawberry Shortcake Costume
Since the 1980s, the character Strawberry Shortcake has been loved by girls for her sweet nature and fun adventures. Originally appearing on American Greetings cards in 1979, she was made into a doll and then an animated cartoon character. A number of friends were added to Shortcake's world, as well as a couple of bad guys. Known for her sweet disposition, Strawberry Shortcake wears an easily recognized and distinctive outfit that is easy to replicate for Halloween.
Things You'll Need
- Red long-sleeved dress
- Green and white striped knee-highs or tights (solid green or white can be substituted)
- White apron With tie
- Brown shoes with white laces
- Brown eyeliner
- Hot glue gun
- Floppy sun hat
- Red felt
- Pink fabric
- Red ribbon
- Green felt
- Red embroidery thread
- Blush
- Scissors
- White pantaloons
- Embroidery needle

Cut three diamonds of the same size from green felt. Using a hot glue gun, attach them to center of the apron near its bottom edge.

Embroider three "X"s on the bottom edge of apron using red embroidery thread. Directions for embroidering can be found on a website provided in the References section of this article.

Cover the floppy hat with pink fabric using the glue gun. Cut out a strawberry from the piece of red felt. Attach the strawberry shape to the hat. Finish the hat by gluing on red ribbon trim.

Draw freckles on your face using brown eyeliner and add blush to the apples of your cheeks.

Put on the tights and shoes to complete your Strawberry Shortcake costume.
