How to Convert a GPS Handheld

Your handheld GPS helps you navigate your town or state.

Your Global Positioning System (GPS) hand-held device tracks your current location. It also gives you directions to your desired locations. If you do not understand the coordinates that your handheld gives you, you can convert them to a different methodology. Three websites allow you to convert your coordinates to the traditional format. These websites are free for you to use.

Instructions

1. Click "Start," "Internet Explorer." Navigate to a GPS conversion website. Examples include CGS Network, Jeep Reviews, and DNR Garmin Application.

2. Enter your latitude degrees, minutes, and seconds for your coordinates. Verify that they are correct.

3. Click the "Convert" button. You will receive the traditional degrees, minutes, and seconds for your coordinates.
