How do I Play Home Makeover Games?
Home makeover games are a type of Flash game typically aimed at female gamers. There are many types of home makeover games, but the overall theme remains the same. You typically choose a room in the house and then have to redecorate it using a variety of objects. These games are aimed at stimulating the creativity of the player, and there is usually no right or wrong way to decorate the houses.

Select a home makeover game. Free home makeover games are available on sites such as Girl Games and Girls Go Games (see Resources). "Fancy Cozy House," on the I Girls Games website (see Resources), is a good game to start with because it has bright, colorful graphics, music and three different rooms in the house you can make over. Click on the "Play Game" button after the advertisements on this site.

Click on the yellow, pink or blue tab (living room, bedroom or bathroom) in "Fancy Cozy House" to switch to that room.

Click one of icons on the green panel on the right-hand side of the screen. The floor pattern on the main game screen will change to reflect the new pattern you have chosen. Click the arrow buttons showing "1/2" to open the next set of available patterns.

Click the arrows to the left or right of the "Floor" button to move to the next category of items. There are categories for windows, decorations, furniture and even pets. Click the icon of the object you want to place in the room and, while holding down the left mouse button, drag the object into the game window. As long as the left mouse button is held down you can move the object anywhere in the room and place it by releasing the mouse button.

Click the pink icons underneath the object icons to manipulate the currently selected object in the room. You can make the object bigger, smaller or rotate it. You can select objects already in the room by left-clicking on them. A white outline around them will indicate that the object is the selected one. Pressing the pink "X" button will remove the currently selected item.

Keep playing until you are happy with the home makeover and then click the "Show" button at the bottom of the game screen. This will remove all the toolbars and display the room you have created. Click the "Save" button to take a picture of the room that you can then save to your computer. Click "Replay to start from scratch."
