How to Customize Racing Decals
A custom racing decal design is just a few clicks away. Numerous professional custom decal design services are available online, and a racer, or modeler, may create his own custom design to submit for printing on decal paper. Some websites even allow the consumer to create an original design right online.

Use a design program to create an original decal. Some design programs allow you to use stock images, such as flames and lightening bolts. You can customize the stock images using tools in the design program. Add your name or a catch phrase using the text tools. Change the size to fit your car or model. Change colors or shapes. Windows users may be able to execute simple designs in Windows Paint. Some online resources offer free downloads of design software for more complex designs.

Submit your design to a printer. Save a copy of your customized design to your hard drive before submitting. Some printing companies will allow you to submit your design via e-mail or fax. Others will want a file copied to a disk and mailed to them. Call your printing company before submitting to clarifying the transaction.

Print your own decal. This is a good option for small decals intended for models. Insert decal paper in your printer. Decal paper has only one printable side. You can make multiple copies of small decals by copy and pasting inside your design program. Select the original decal image. Left click on your mouse and select copy. Click on the area where you want the copy, left click again and select paste. Print your completed design. Let the ink dry for 15 minutes before applying your printed decal.
