You have some documents or pictures that you want to laminate but you don't have a laminating machine. Instead, you can use self-adhesive laminating sheets or pouches. They work by securing your documents within the lamination with adhesive, rather than heat. You can find self-adhesive laminating products at office-supply stores and some other retailers.. Purchase self-lamination that is larger than your document size. With a few simple steps, you'll be able to laminate all those important documents and photos.

Things You Will Need
  • Scissors

  • Pencil

  • Ruler

  • Paper

  • Credit card

Pouches

Read whether the self-laminating pouches are adjustable or permanent. If you have a permanent pouch, you must place the item inside it correctly the first time. If the pouch is adjustable, you can remove the item and reposition it as necessary.

Remove any backing that is protecting the adhesive of the laminating pouch.

Place the flat item into your laminating pouch. Some pouches have grids on them to help you line up the item to be laminated. Be sure you have extra laminate on each side of your item so that it will be properly sealed at the end.

Close the pouch over the document, from the fold side to the open side. Press firmly from the folded side to the open side to get rid of air bubbles.

Trim any unnecessary laminate on the sides. Leave some laminate on each side of the document so that it encompasses it.

Sheets

Place the grid behind a clear laminating sheet. If your sheets didn't come with a grid, make one yourself by drawing measured-out intersecting lines on a piece of paper with a ruler and pencil.

Remove the backing from the laminating sheet and realign it so the grid is even with the pouch.

Place the item onto the laminating sheet. Start by placing it along one side so you can smooth it out from one side of the sheet to the other.

Remove the backing from another laminating sheet and place it over the document, sticky side down. To deter air bubbles from forming, start by lining the sheet up on one side and smoothing it out to the other side, using firm pressure.

Cut off any excess laminate, but leave an edge around the document to seal it within the laminate.

Tip

Get rid of air bubbles by running the edge of a credit card over the finished product.
