How to Train for WWE World Wrestling

Save

The world of professional wrestling is a difficult one for young performers to penetrate at the highest level. You must pay your dues prior to entering the most exalted of wrestling entertainment rings. You must look the part, possess the skills and be willing to train to exhaustion to make it in this world. Learn where to get your start so you can become the next Ric Flair or Hulk Hogan.

  • Develop a wrestler's body. Hit the gym and start lifting. Increase your protein consumption to help pile on the muscles. The WWE has always shown a fondness for the big guy, but don't despair if you are of small stature. Many top wrestlers, such as Chavo Guerrero and Rey Mysterio, are leaner than the stereotypical giant of the ring. Work with what you have to make the most of it.

  • Learn the moves that are essential to a good performance. The best way to do this is by enrolling in a training school. Learn from the professionals themselves how to "work" matches. There are many facilities scattered throughout the United States. You may need a second job to afford the expense, but your dream should be worth the extra effort.

  • Create a gimmick you can use to attract attention. Pro wrestling is not all about the moves and acrobatics you use in the ring. You need a good nickname and a persona to accompany it. Some of the most successful gimmicks in the WWE include "The Hitman," "Stone Cold," "The Heartbreak Kid" and "The Rock." Conan Stevens, former professional wrestler, stuntman and bodybuilder, recommends hamming it up.

  • Practice your speaking skills. The best personalities in professional wrestling know how to talk the talk. Whether you are a "heel" (bad guy) or a "face" (good guy), it is essential that you can engage the crowd with your threats and promises as you swagger across your roped stage.

  • Contact the powers that be at the WWE. Send in your video and ask for an audition. It is time to contact the big guys once you are a seasoned competitor. Don't despair if your initial efforts do not succeed. Keep working and call them again after six months.

Tips & Warnings

  • Impress persons already in the business to cultivate important contacts. You want others to spread your name and fame throughout the wrestling world.
