How to Send Michelle Obama a Letter thumbnail
Send your concerns, ideas or comments to the First Lady.

First Lady Michelle Obama has several causes that she champions including childhood obesity and military families. If you have any concerns in those areas or would just like to send a comment to the First Lady, you can send her a letter. When you are composing the letter write in a formal, polite tone and keep it concise. Everyone who writes a letter to the White House will get at least an email in response thanking them for writing, but if your letter is compelling, the First Lady herself might read your letter and respond personally.

Tips & Warnings

  • To increase your chances of having your letter read by the First Lady, write about an issue that is currently being discussed or debated on in Congress and on the news.

  • Double check your spelling before you send your letter. Have someone proof-read your letter as well to make sure that what you are saying makes sense and that it is direct and to the point.

  • The President and First Lady cannot accept any perishable gifts or cash in any form due to security reasons. The First Family strongly urges you to not send any gifts whatsoever and instead use those gifts to help out in your community.
