How to Make Your Own Window Treatment Clip Rings
Window treatment clip rings are used to attach the top of curtain panels to a curtain rod using a ring that has an alligator-style clamp attached to it. The ring portion slides along the curtain rod and the clamp holds the curtain. These rings can be pricey in window treatment packaging, and the sizes are limited to the most commonly selected ring sizes. It is not difficult to make your own rings and you can decorate them to match your decor. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Select a piece of wood dowel that is 6 inches long. The dowel should be larger in circumference than your curtain rod. Insert the end of the dowel into a vise and clamp to hold it firmly in place.
-
2
Cut 6 inches of #10 gauge wire with wire cutters. Grip the end of the wire in the round nose pliers and bend the wire around one side of the plier tip to form a small circle. The end of the circle should touch the straight portion of the wire.

3
Hold the small loop perpendicular to the wood dowel rod and bend the wire in the opposite direction around the wood dowel rod. When the straight wire is 1/4 inch from the loop, slide the curved wire off the dowel rod. Cut the wire where it touches the existing small loop.
-
4
Decorate your ring with beads if you wish to add color and design to your rings. Slip the beads onto the wire from the straight end until 1/2 inch of clear wire remains.
-
5
Bend the end of the wire in a tight loop that is opposite the first loop but similar in size and shape. The end of the loop should touch the wire. This will hold the beads in place and give you an attachment loop for your clamps.
-
6
Open the top wire ring that connects the plastic part of the identification badge clip to the clamp. Some clips rivet the clamp to the strap. Remove the clamp. Use the same ring or a new jump ring to attach the clamp to the loop on your new wire curtain rod ring. Press the ends of the wire ring firmly closed.
