The appearance of cellulite can be improved through treatment and cover-ups.

Cellulite is a bumpy curse that has no definitive cure; although the condition is completely normal and not dangerous. The cellulite is caused by fat deposits under the skin -- that are distributed unevenly --and result in a dimply skin. Cellulite is most commonly found on the thighs, buttocks and hips. Cellulite issues pop up every year in swimsuit season. Poolside confidence can be restored, by reducing the appearance of the pesky fat deposits. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Lose weight. The Mayo Clinic recommends losing weight -- if you are overweight -- through a healthy diet and regular exercise. A fat-burning diet and exercise will reduce the appearance of cellulite. However, the cellulite will not completely go away, just with diet and exercise.

Consider undergoing laser treatment or radiofrequency treatment. The Mayo Clinic states that these treatments can improve the appearance of cellulite for up to six months. Each treatment may require several sessions to have an effect.

    • 3

Darken your skin if you are fair-skinned. Cellulite is recognizable by dimpled skin, and the dimples are easier to see when the shadow cast by the bumpy bit, falls on a light skin. Darkening the skin tone will make blemishes less obvious, and the shadows less pronounced.

    • 4

Exfoliate and moisturize the skin. Exfoliation will make your skin appear smoother and brighter, even without the tan.

    • 5

Use sunblock, if you want to get a natural tan. The advantages of a natural tan over a fake tan, is that it is free. The results last longer than a temporary tan, and there is no mess or risk of orange hands.

Smile and look confident. Cellulite is so common that the appearance of the dimply stuff won't put anybody off.

Tips & Warnings

  • The Mayo Clinic states that most of the creams and treatments on sale for cellulite reduction do not have an effective result. Save up your money for a fake tan or laser treatments that do work.

  • Liposuction is not a good treatment for cellulite, and the procedure may in fact make your cellulite appear worse than before the surgery.
