How to Reset a Garage Remote
There are many universal remotes that work with many types of garage door motor units. Most universal remotes are similar in that there usually are two or three programmable buttons on the remote. Even if you move into a new home, you likely can use your universal remote on your new garage door opener as long as you reset the remote. You do not need to be an electrician to reset a garage door remote. Does this Spark an idea?

Place the step ladder underneath the garage door opener motor unit.

Open the cover that surrounds the lightbulb. Under the cover, there are a few buttons.

Press and release the "Learn" button on the motor unit.

Press and hold the button on the remote that you wish to reset within 30 seconds of releasing the "Learn" button on the motor unit.

Release the button on the remote control when the motor unit's light blinks. If you do not have a working lightbulb installed in the unit, you will hear two clicks to let you know the resetting process is complete.

Close the motor unit's cover.
