1
Make a shorter toga, rather than one that reaches down to the lower calf. Fold the toga material in half or three-quarters so the final wrap reaches to just above the knee. Wrap the first half of the material snugly around your waist about two times and pin in place using a safety pin. Use the second half of the fabric to throw over your shoulder and pin in place. Men can also shorten the length to mid-calf for a less formal toga look.

2
Add a close-fitting gold belt to emphasize the waist and an hour-glass shape. A gold belt is reminiscent of Athena or Hera for women. Men can tie a red or white cloth around the mid-section to give the toga more shape and make the look more reminiscent of a Roman soldier.

3
Wear sandals that evoke another time. Women should look for sandals with delicate straps or jewels to highlight the toga costume's leg line. High-heeled sandals will also add emphasis to the leg line. Men can search for gladiator-style sandals for an edgier look.

4
Wear coin-inspired earrings or necklaces to add extra sparkle and emphasis to the upper half of the body.

5
Add a wreath of gold leaves to the ensemble. Fake gold leaves can be purchased at any craft supply store and glued together to resemble a Roman crown. Both men and women can add pizazz to a toga costume with this detail.
