How to Reset a Product Key

A product key is required anytime you install a Windows operating system on a computer. This key is a unique set of numbers that can be found on the inside of the Windows package you purchased. When you install of new version of Windows, you must update the product key to activate the new software. If you do not activate the new Windows version within 30 days, some features will no longer function (reference).

Instructions

1. Click "Start."

2. Right-click "Computer," then click "Properties."

3. Click "Change product key."

4. Enter a product key, then click "Next" to complete the activation process.
