If the remote control for your Samsung HLT4675S TV doesn't work, check the batteries.

Samsung's HLT4675S is a 46-inch slim 720p DLP rear-projection HDTV. Out of the box, the television has two HDMI cables, two S-video cables, two monitor and sound-out cables, video and audio inputs for a PC, and stereo speakers. It features a gaming mode and is 3-D ready. But despite all of its features and the praise heaped on it for its picture quality and price, sometimes things can go wrong. Hauling a 46-inch, 60-pound TV to the repair shop would be tedious. A few troubleshooting steps may reveal what is wrong and even resolve the problem outright. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Adjust the antenna and check all connections, if you are experiencing poor picture or sound quality.

    • 2

Press the SOURCE button to make sure you have selected the correct input if you have no picture or sound at all. Make sure the TV is plugged in, and check the fuse box or circuit breaker box to see whether a fuse has blown or a circuit breaker has tripped. If so, replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker. A blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker also could cause the TV to not turn on.

    • 3

Check the remote to make sure the MUTE button has not been pressed inadvertently if there is no sound. If the problem persists, check the volume settings of everything connected to the TV, such as a digital broadcasting receiver, DVD player, cable broadcasting receiver or VCR.

    • 4

Check and tighten all connections if the TV picture rolls vertically.

    • 5

Unplug the TV if it is operating erratically. Leave it unplugged for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

    • 6

Adjust the brightness control and the fine tuning if the picture is too dark or too light.

    • 7

Replace the batteries in the remote control if it ceases to work properly. Other things to try are to clean the upper edge of the remote where the sensor is, and press the TV button to put the remote control in TV mode. Finally, check the battery terminals to make sure they are not corroded, and make sure the batteries are inserted correctly, with the + and -- ends facing the right direction.
