Angel Costumes Made From Sheets

Angel Costumes Made From Sheets thumbnail
Make a simple angel costume from a white bedsheet.

If you need a costume in a pinch and don't have a lot of money, you can pull together an angel costume in minutes. All you need for the base is a white sheet. You may not want to spend a lot of money on a costume your child will wear once in the Christmas program only to be shoved in a closet after it's over, so create one out of something you already have on hand.

Instructions

  1. Costume

    • 1

Lay the sheet on a flat surface and fold it over so it's folded exactly in half.

    • 2

Cut a hole in the center on the folded side that will be big enough to accommodate the head of the wearer.

    • 3

Slip the costume over the child and assess the length. Trim the costume as needed to make the costume the appropriate length.

    • 4

Close the costume by tying a decorative gold rope around the waist to make a belt.

    • 5

Embellish the costume by using fabric glue to attach some gold rick rack or garland to the edges of the sheet. Allow it to dry before wearing the costume.

    Wings

    • 6

Draw angel wings in the shape you desire onto a large piece of cardboard. Make the wings the proper size for the person wearing them. Keep them within a 2-foot wingspan so they don't get in the way too easily or make it hard for the child to get around. Cut the wings out.

    • 7

Punch a hole in the top of the wings and underneath where the child's shoulders are. There should be four holes total. Hold the wings up to the child to accurately place the holes. Pull elastic through each hole to create a strap the child's arms can go through to secure the wings onto her back. Tie knots in the elastic ends to keep them secure.

    • 8

Glue folded coffee filters onto the wings to look like feathers. Allow the glue to dry before wearing the wings.

    • 9

Twist a couple of gold pipe cleaners into the shape of a halo and attach the halo to the wings with a stapler.
