How to Add a Guest Book to Your Web Page
A guest book is a handy tool you can add to your site to allow visitors to interact and leave comments and feedback. For a website that doesn't use chat rooms or forums, guest books are useful additions. A guest book can be added to your own Web page by signing up for and using a guest book app system, which many sites provide for free. Good guest books allow you to moderate comments and block spam, and can include some other easy-to-use features.

1
Choose a guest book app, such as SmartGB, Freeguestbooks or a-free-guestbook. (See Resources.) Each free guest book may have slightly different features, so look over the feature list to see which one best suits your needs. Customization is a plus, but also look out for how ads (if any) are displayed, and what controls you have over user posts.
-
2
Sign up for an account on the guest book provider's website. From this account, you can manage the guest book itself, its comments and all its custom settings.

3
Set up your guest book's settings and page. In many cases, the guest books are remotely hosted, so you will be given a link that you can place on your page that will display or direct to the guest book itself. Take this time to customize the guest book as much as you want to match colors, set word filters, add graphics and more.
-
4
Add the code for your guest book (which will show up as a simple HTML code or hyperlink) to your website using an HTML editor or whatever method you use to edit your pages. Place the HTML/link wherever you want the guest book to show up on your website. If you want it to show up on multiple pages, you will need to edit each page you want to change.
-
5
Save your changes to each page, then test your website by viewing it in a Web browser. Most changes that may need to be made to the guest book can be done from the guest book's control panel itself instead of your website's HTML.
