How to Avoid Bed Bug Bites

If you have ever woken up in the morning with itchy red spots on your body then you know how irritating bed bug bites can be. But there are measures you can take to get rid of bed bugs and avoid future bites. It won't take up very much of your time and it doesn't involve tossing out your mattress.

Things You'll Need

  • Disposable gloves
  • Diatomaceous earth powder
  • Put on disposable gloves and remove the blankets and linens from your bed. Wash them thoroughly.

  • Sprinkle diatomaceous earth available from pet supply stores) evenly on top of your mattress, coating it. This is a chemical-free rock powder and is all natural. It breaks down the outer shells of bed bugs, effectively killing them.

  • Sprinkle the powder evenly on any furniture that is near your bed, such as night stands.

  • Let sit a few hours and then clean off your mattress with a vacuum or duster.
