The uses of black tea, made from the Camellia sinensis plant, include prevention of certain ailments and diseases. You can also use it as a foot bath to kill odor-causing bacteria. Black tea closes the pores of your feet to keep them from sweating. Pamper your feet with a simple, natural foot bath of black tea to keep them dry and to keep people from turning up their noses.   • 2 cups water
  • Teapot
  • 2-quart pot
  • 2 black tea bags
  • Small plastic foot bath
  • Towel
  • Hair dryer
  • Thyme oil

Instructions

      Bring two cups of water to a boil in a teapot or 2-quart pot on the stove. Add two tea bags and continue to boil for 15 minutes. Remove the bags and dilute tea with two quarts of warm water. Let the mixture cool.

      Add the diluted black tea mixture to a plastic foot bath. Soak your feet 30 minutes. Remove feet and pat dry with a towel, or reduce moisture and infection by blow drying your feet with a hair dryer on the lowest temperature. This helps prevent fungus, nail infections and athletes foot. Repeat daily.

      Turn your tea bath into an extra odor fighting soak by adding a few drops of thyme oil. According to the Reader's Digest, in "How to Freshen your Feet," thyme oil "contains a strong antiseptic that kills odor-causing bacteria. Soak your feet for 15 to 20 minutes a day for a week. Avoid thyme oil if you have any open sores as this can be an irritant.
