How To Change PH Levels

Always keep an eye on the pH level of your pool.

The most common occasions to change pH levels are in swimming pools or in hot tubs. A pH that is too high or too low could harm your skin or cause redness. The target pH level depends on what you are measuring; for example, a pH between five and six is normal for precipitation. You can use a pH test strip to see what the pH level is and determine if you need to raise or lower the level.

Things You'll Need

• pH test strip
• pH increaser
• pH decreaser

Instructions

1. Test the water in your pool or hot tub to identify its current pH level using the pH test strip.

2. Use pH increaser if the strip indicates the level is 7.5 or lower, or the strip says your pH is too low.

3. Use pH decreaser if the strip says the level is higher than 7.8, or if the strip says your pH is too high.
