Instructions on How to Pick Up the Bustle on a Wedding Dress thumbnail
A bustled gown lets you walk around freely.

Bustling your dress incorrectly can cause unnecessary wear and tear when trying it on, taking pictures or having your first dance. It can also cause improper weight distribution, which could in turn cause the buttons, snaps or hooks holding the bustle to come undone. Your wedding dress is something you have thought about your whole life; make sure it is perfect by knowing how to pick up and bustle your gown.

Instructions

    • 1

Find the hook, snap or button where you will place the bustle. It is most commonly located in the back center at the bottom of the bodice.

    • 2

Lay the fabric of the train flat on the floor.

    • 3

Located near the center of the train, you will see a loop of ribbon or small white twine. Pick up the loop and lift it straight up.

    • 4

Bring the loop on the train to the attachment on the body of the dress. Secure the loop.

    • 5

Straighten the train and fluff the bustle.

Tips & Warnings

  • Ask your seamstress to attach an extra fastener to add extra support for your bustle.

  • Be careful not to step on the gown. Cleaning your dress can be very expensive.
