How to Make Your Own Obama Icons
Buddy icons are used for instant messenger services and social networking websites. The icons range in size depending on the specific use of the icon, though most icons are around 100 by 100 pixels or so. There are a wide range of icon types, including icons of the president. If you can't find a President Obama icon you like, you can customize one.

1
Find an image of the president you like online and copy it to your computer.
-
2
Open a web browser and go to any icon-making website. Many websites are designed for making icons, including Icon Maker and Frank's Icons (see Resources).
-
-
3
Upload the Obama image into the icon-making website. Usually it is uploaded by selecting a "Browse" button and then locating the image of Obama for the icon. Select "OK" when the image is highlighted and the picture will load into the icon-making website. Because some websites make avatars as well as icons, select the buddy icon button if prompted.
-
4
Adjust the icon. For larger icons, pull the squares of the icon box to make it larger. If the icon box is an appropriate size, move the square of the icon box around until the picture is framed as you prefer. For example, move the square until Obama's face is centered. Save the icon.

5
Add text if you prefer. Some websites will allow you to add text as part of the icon-making process, while others will not. If it does not, save the icon to the computer and open it in any photo-editing or art software. Select the text options and add a text box to any location on the icon and then add your text. Icons are limited in space, so short text is necessary for icons with an image.
