How to Make a Pocket for a Diaper Bag
Extra pockets can be added to your diaper bag to help keep it organized. You can add them to the inside of the bag or to the outside.

1
Cut the fabric to the size of the pocket you want, adding a 1-inch seam allowance. Use a strong fabric such as cotton or nylon. You can make small pockets for things like cream and pacifiers, and large pockets for diapers and wipes. Cut two pieces of fabric that are identical in size and shape to make one pocket.

2
Lay the fabric with the wrong sides facing each other. Pin the top and bottom edges together, 1/2-inch from the edge of the fabric. Use a medium sized cotton thread to sew the pinned edges together, or use nylon thread for a less visible stitch. Trim the edges of the seams to make them neater. Turn the pocket inside out so the right side of the fabric is facing the outside.

Place the pocket inside the diaper bag. Pin the sides of the pocket onto the lining, 1-inch from the edge of the pocket. Pin the bottom 1/2-inch of the pocket onto the bottom of the lining. Hand sew the pocket into the lining with small stitches. Trim any excess fabric from the sides of the pockets.

Repeat the above steps to make an outside pocket, stitching it into the outside fabric instead of the lining.

Tips & Warnings
To divide large pockets, stitch the centre of the pocket to the diaper bag. This makes two separate compartments.
