How to Make Vinyl Siding Cleaner

Clean vinyl siding with your own cleaning solution.

Vinyl siding is an affordable and durable outdoor building material commonly used on home exteriors. The vinyl needs to be cleaned just like any other outdoor surface to keep the home looking its best. Cleaning regularly removes the buildup and outdoor elements that accumulate on the vinyl, and using a homemade siding cleaner instead of an expensive commercial siding cleaner saves money as well as a trip to the supermarket.

Things You'll Need

• Bucket
• Oxygen bleach
• Siding brush
• Garden hose

Instructions

1. Mix about 1 gallon water and 1 cup oxygen bleach in a bucket.

2. Rinse down the vinyl siding with water from the hose to remove any loose buildup from your home exterior.

3. Dip a siding brush into the cleaning solution. These long-handled brushes are readily available at any home improvement store.

4. Scrub the brush over your siding, wiping side to side along each vinyl panel. Continue across all of the siding.

5. Rinse off your vinyl siding again with the hose and allow to air-dry.
