1
Open the window and that you want to put the air conditioner in and clean out the windowsill.
-
2
Place the bracket, that comes with the unit, in the center of the windowsill and position it so that the screw holes are over a flat surface so that it can be attached. Drill the screws that come with the bracket through the holes and into the windowsill.

3
Place the air conditioner in the window. If you look on the bottom of the unit, you well see a metal strip. This is placed up against the inside edge of the window track on the windowsill. It keeps it from slipping while you install the unit.
-
4
Lower the window down on top of the unit while someone holds it in place for you. There is a lip above the unit that needs to be inside the home and resting up against the window. Most of the air conditioner is outside of the house and the weight of it will force it to lean against the window.
-
5
Go outside and have someone lift the unit up until it is level. Place a level on top of it to gauge this. Once it is in the right position, adjust the bracket arm that you attached on the windowsill so that it is up against the bottom of it and the diagonal brace is against the house. Mark the drill holes of the brace.
-
6
Release the brace arm of the bracket and drill pilot holes where you made the marks. Place the bracket back in place and drill the hardware in that comes with the unit bracket.
-
7
Slide the side shades out from the unit to the edge of the window. Drill screws through the holes in the shades to connect them to the sides of the window. This will block out most of the open space on the sides.
-
8
Push the insulation that comes with the unit into any open spaces that you see such, as between the unit and window.
