How to Resize Tungsten
Tungsten has become a popular material used for wedding bands. It is three times harder than steel and has the highest melting point of all elements, second only to Carbon. These physical properties contribute to its ability to keep its high-shine, mirror-like surface for a long period of time. These same properties also make it impossible to resize a tungsten ring. Most retailers have taken this fact into consideration and offer various options in the event your tungsten ring no longer fits. Does this Spark an idea?

Buy a ring guard online. It is common for people's fingers to get smaller if there is any type of weight loss. These ring size adjusters are an inexpensive, convenient way for those that do not want to resize their ring or simply cannot, to get a comfortable fit for their ring. These adjusters attach to the inside of your ring. They come in silver, silver-plated, gold and plastic versions. The metal versions are self-adjusting and come in various sizes. Use your ring size to determine what size adjuster you need. The plastic adjusters come in sizes from small to extra large. If you are not sure what size to order, variety packs are available containing various sizes.

Place the ring guard onto the ring, following manufacturer's instructions. You will need a pair of jewelry pliers for the gold or silver inserts as they will need to be tightened. The plastic styles simply fit over the band with no fuss.

Try on the ring to confirm the fit. Adjust the inserts to make the ring fit more snugly or loosely. If you are using the metal adjusters you can tighten the clasps around the band once you have found the perfect fit. If you are using a plastic model use a bigger adjuster for a snugger fit and a smaller size for a loose fit.

Contact your original retail merchant if your ring is too small. Since jewelers are aware that tungsten rings cannot be resized like traditional gold and silver jewelry can be, most retailers have warranties in place that cover you in the event your tungsten ring no longer fits. Find out what your individual retailer's policy is.
