1
Wash and condition your hair. Use a deep conditioner that moisturizes your hair, and apply a leave-in conditioner. This keeps your hair healthy through the coloring process. It often helps prevent a fried look when the process is complete.
-
2
Apply a hair-color stripper to your hair. Leave the chemical in for 20 minutes, or follow manufacturer's directions. The stripper removes the black pigment from your hair, but frequently results in the fried-hair problem that arises during a dye job. Dying hair from black to blond must be done over a period of time.

3
Rinse out the stripper. Your hair might be brittle or have an orange hue. This is common, because most of the pigment has been stripped from your hair. Wait at least one day before beginning any other procedures.
-
4
Condition your hair once or twice before applying color. Apply generous amounts of the leave-in conditioner.
-
5
Apply the blond dye. Follow the instructions on the packaging for information on how long to leave the dye in your hair.
-
6
Rinse the dye completely from your hair. Use just enough shampoo to wash away the dye. Do Condition your hair, but wait a t least two days before performing a normal wash. This allows the color to set in.
