How to Become a Doll Artist
Doll artists make and design dolls. There are as many different doll artists as there are doll types; reborn doll artists make one-of-a-kind dolls from scratch, while many one-of-a-kind doll artists will repaint a doll that already exists. If you are a beginner and want to learn how to become a doll artist, your best bet is to buy a kit or premade doll to learn the craft. Making dolls is an art; practice is the only way to become a doll artist.

Instructions

1
Take a class on making one-of-a-kind dolls. Check your local doll shop or online.
-
2
Purchase the raw materials you need to make your doll. A doll kit has already made doll parts you string together. Alternatively, purchase an already made doll to customize yourself. Doll wigs are sold according to doll size; purchase one that fits your doll.
-
-
3
String the kit together. If the doll is already made, remove any face and nail makeup with the nail polish remover and cotton balls.
-
4
Repaint the doll's face and fingernails with the acrylic paints. Finish with a coat of clear acrylic sealer.
-
5
Make an outfit for your doll using a pattern, fabric and sewing machine. A sewing machine is a must if your doll outfits are to look professional.
-
6
Glue on the doll's wig, following the glue instructions.
