How to Make Your Own Car Flag
Displaying a flag on your car is one way to show support for a sports team, political candidate or country. Car flags can also be displayed in celebration of holidays such as Christmas and Halloween. Car flags make thoughtful gifts, as they can be personalized specifically for the recipient. Making your own car flag, rather than purchasing one pre-made, allows you to be as creative as you'd like. The process of making a car flag is simple and does not require any sewing.

1
Create the base and rod of the flag out of a 12-inch plastic stick and suction cup, both of which can be purchased at an a crafts supply store. Use hot glue to attach the rod to the top of the suction cup.
-
2
Cut your flag shape out of fabric. The shape does not have to be the traditional rectangle shape -- it can be triangular like a pennant or have jagged edges, or be any other shape the flag maker desires. The flag should be approximately 12-by-6 inches.

3
Decorate the flag using fabric markers. The design can be anything the flag maker desires. If the markers bleed through to the other side of the flag fabric, cut out an identical piece of fabric that can be glued onto the back of the first piece. This will allow you to still have a double-sided flag.
-
4
Glue one of the vertical sides of the flag to the top of the rod using hot glue. The flag should be facing in the proper direction and glued as securely as possible. It is now ready to be suctioned onto the front hood, trunk or roof of the car.
