1
Remove the air conditioner mechanism from the unit case. Insert the empty case in the window.
-
2
Place the cabinet so it is sloped to the outside of the home. This allows water the air conditioner generates to drain away. The slope should be equal to a half bubble on a small carpenter's level.
-
-
3
Fasten the cabinet to the window sill with screws run through the holes in the bottom of the cabinet. Use ½-inch diameter 2-inch long screws. Place screws through all fastener holes in the bottom of the frame.
-
4
Close the window to the top of the air conditioner case.
-
5
Fasten a window lock bracket to the side of the window frame. Use a 2-inch screw through the bracket into the window frame to hold the bracket in place. Place another bracket on the opposite side of the window. These brackets prevent the window from being opened removing the upper support of the air conditioner.
-
6
Place the mechanism of the air conditioner in the case. Install any shields or insulation components around the frame necessary to close the open window area. Place the grill front on the air conditioner mechanism.
-
7
Plug the air conditioner directly into a grounded outlet.
