How to Troubleshoot Garbled Printing on a Ricoh Aficio MP 3350

Ricoh is a leading provider of digital office equipment. Brands include Ricoh, Lanier and Savin. Printers include models that can copy, scan and produce output in black and white or color. Problems with the Aficio MP 3350m printer can include garbled printing, such as unwanted alpha-numeric characters. Garbled printing on these printers is related to the printer language specified, which can be fixed.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "User Tools" key on the printer and open the "Printer Features" dialog box -- look for a "Printer Language" menu item by scrolling down.

    • 2

Specify the default "Auto" setting in the "Printer language" menu area of the "Setup" if the output is garbled. Printer language can be specified when certain PostScript options are installed. The menu item won't appear on the Aficio MP 3350 unless PostScript 3, or both PostScript 3 and PCL (printer command language) options are installed on the printer.

    • 3

Try other printer language settings until the printer stops outputting garbled print. Make a language setting change, press "OK" and then try the job again.
