How to Change a Fuel Filter in a 1985 Vogue RV
If you own a 1985 Vogue RV, chances are you will eventually need to have the fuel filter replaced. The fuel filter helps prevents contaminants from entering the fuel line. Without your fuel filter, the fuel line can easily become clogged and prevent fuel from reaching the cylinders. Changing the fuel filter in your 1985 Vogue RV is a simple procedure for experienced home mechanics.

Disconnect the battery by loosening the battery cables and pulling them out with your hands. To loosen the cables, turn the cable clamps counterclockwise with your socket wrench.

Remove the engine cover by placing your 8mm wrench over the bolts and turning them counterclockwise. Lift the engine cover up and out of the engine to allow access to the fuel filter.

Loosen and remove the head of the fuel filter with your 9mm socket wrench.

Disconnect the fuel lines that run into the fuel filter by loosening the bolts with your crescent wrench.

Remove the fuel filter by lifting it out of the fuel filter casing. You should be able to do this with your hands, but if the fuel filter is very old, you might need to pry it out with a flathead screwdriver. Be cautious because the fuel filter does have fuel in it. Lift it carefully out of the casing to avoid splattering fuel everywhere.

Place your new fuel filter into the casing and replace the fuel filter head. Turn your socket wrench clockwise to tighten the cap of the fuel filter.

Reconnect the fuel lines.

Replace your engine cover.
