Grab air and surf with the sport of kiteboarding.

Combine the action of surfing with the aerobatics of paragliding and you come up with the hybrid sport of kiteboarding. Ocean Rodeo makes a variety of kiteboarding products including kites, harnesses, boards and control bars. The equipment is designed to work together. Setting up the SLE kite bar gets you up and out onto the water. Kiteboarding is inherently dangerous and requires proper training to ensure safe operation of the equipment.

Instructions

    • 1

Set the bar and the attachment lines out on the beach. Unwind the leader-lines and pull them out from the bar. Ensure there are no knots or tangles. The leader lines are the cords on the sides of the bar. There are two yellow and two red lines. These are the leaders.

    • 2

Unwind the lines with unwoven ends so they face the kite side of the bar. Keep the red lines on the left and the yellow on the right. Keep the remaining lines in the center of the bar. Attach the two red lines to the corners of the left side of the kite. Attach the two yellow lines to the right hand corners of the kite. Use the kite's corner loops to attach the leader lines.

    • 3

Thread the back-lines off the bar -- the lines leading away from the kite-- to the kite-boarding body-harness by pushing the leader loops through the line-loops and making a hitch knot. Keep the harness off the body during this attachment, for safety's sake.

    • 4

Pull all lines and extend out the kite. Check that all lines are of equal length on the kite side -- these are the leader-lines. If not, remove and tie off to the kite to make them all of equal length.

    • 5

Attach the bar to the harness via the center swivel lines using the Step 3 lines already prepared. Use loop knots to attach the lines to the bar's loops. Grip the bar and walk backwards to tighten the lines. Check that there are two red lines attached to the left of the kite and two yellow on the right as a redundancy safety check.
