1
Create a guest list so you know how big your party will be. Keep in mind that you'll want to "reserve" a spot for each guest and her clothing. The living room is the most common place to hold a clothing party.
-
2
Pick a day and time that works best for your schedule and the schedule of your friends. Weekends are a normal time to choose for this type of party. Allow at least two hours for your party to accommodate food, chatting, sorting through clothes and trying them on.

Mail invitations or send online invitations. Set an RSVP date. Have each guest tell you a dish of food she will bring when she replies to your invitation. While this is optional, it will alleviate some of the cost for you. Buffet style normally works best; that way those not trying on clothes or have finished with their selections can help themselves to the food.
-
4
Confirm with guests one week prior to the party so you can start to rearrange furniture if necessary and set up areas so guests can try on clothing. Send your guests an e-mail reminder of the party; that way those who replied that they will attend will have a quick reminder, and for those who haven't replied, they may do so at this time.
-
5
Set up tables in each spot so guests can lay out their clothing. Designate a spot for the food in the kitchen or on a table in the corner of the room you are using for the clothing party.
-
6
Welcome your guests on the day of the party and show them to their area. Set the dishes they bring in the food area. Once everyone has arrived, show them the changing areas, the food area and let them start shopping for new clothes.

Tips & Warnings
Donate all unwanted items to a woman's charity. You can also charge a small entrance fee ($1 to $5) and donate the money to a woman's foundation.
Keep the areas tidy so clothing is easy to spot and pick through.
Set up mirrors around the room.
Some guests may be uncomfortable changing around others, so set up your clothes-swap area near a powder room or bathroom.
